How to build a Polymarket bot

A practical outline for building a bot on Polymarket’s order book (CLOB), with links to the official docs and to public Polymarket bots you can study.

Last updated . Facts below come from the official documentation linked at the end, checked Oct 13, 2026. This is not financial advice; check that the platform is available to you and read its terms.

Steps

  1. Read the developer docs. Polymarket’s docs at docs.polymarket.com cover market data and the CLOB trading API.
  2. Pick an official client. The docs show TypeScript and Python SDKs. Polymarket also publishes py-clob-client and clob-client on GitHub.
  3. Authenticate with your wallet. Trading clients are created with your wallet address and a signer key. Keep keys in environment variables, never in code.
  4. Fetch a market and its outcome IDs. Look up the market, choose an outcome, and use its trading identifier when placing orders.
  5. Place small orders and wait for settlement. The docs note that matched trades settle on-chain asynchronously, so wait for settlement before reading positions.
  6. Study working code. The public examples below include Polymarket’s own market-maker keeper, agent frameworks and data pipelines.
